Hello! I'm baaaack! *waves* How is everyone?

Anyway, some updates about all the GLC members.

Miss FANG is currently stoning in Tianjin without ANYTHING PRODUCTIVE to do and is heading back to school this coming Sunday. Obviously, due to the stringient censorship in China, she is unable to read all our posts but she seems to be doing just fine judging from the n calls we've had back in China. Due to a series of unfortuate accident, she cannot come and visit me in BJ this time but we're still going to try and make fall break work this time round!

Miss TSAI is back in Monash I suppose. Through MSN, I discovered that she might be heading to NYC to visit her BFF from NYU. WHHHHY?! Why never come and visit me? huh HUH HUHHHHH!!! Okie, Miss Tsai needs to update me on exactly if she is and when she is going and maybe MAYBE we'll see each other in NYC. I miss my favourite fishball cause when you're around, I'm not the shortest anymore HAHA.

Miss CHIA has sadly started her new semester and is back to the immense stress of med school Lets all wish (our only) local glutton lots of luck! I was having fever these few days but after I fully recover, we're going to meet up before I go off! I want to see ION woooohoooo:)

Miss CHUA has the fortune of meeting me in Beijing by a stroke of coincidental timing. I was not only graced by her company but also 3 of her immediate family members plus one erm less immediate family member. Though the time was short, we had a good time catching up and she does not seem to have matured much since rgs/rj days, you can simply judge by reading exactly 2 blog posts down.

MISS HO is back in Melbourne. Haven't seen her since like FOREVERRRR and I miss smelly melly hohohohoho. Haha. Apart disturbing her several times randomly via MSN, haven't really talked to hohoho recently. Let's have skype date soon! I just bought this super cute frog from Beijing (which is my lucky charm and will turn into my prince one day). I must show you, just like Patrick!

Hehe, hope everyone is having (or will have) a great start to the new semester! Take care~

HI gluttons!

for the foreign gluttons who do not know that TMR (yes, the fateful day has come) is the beginning of the new acad yr.. today is an especially melancholic and depressing day (being the eve)! as the local glutton was surfing the web aimlessly n discovered to the surprise of all surprises, a very helpful anti-depressant in the form of this recently active blog

wow. believe it or not, eating is actually a career and profession. n these people r called eaters haha

and now just a little update on life in this imbearably little red dot

we had national day yestd which was surprisingly fun! my cousin had a room at swissotel which had a pretty good view of the floating platform. haha but i bet foreign gluttons actually forgot abt the 9th of aug. but as usual it is the very usual stuff. oh and i recently made tiramisu on my own! i even bought amaretto! amazing eh!!

well hope u guys are having a great time 8-) i had a great break and hopefully will have some fun after-sch activities in the first few wks of this sem. sadly, just received word of impending asses and tuts to complete in the next wks.. oh well, on the bright side, there'll be a 1 wk break in 6 wks'time, which is the F1 week. i so hope to squeeze in the most unlikel-iest of short trips then.

i suppose my should be returning from bj soon? in the meantime, enjoy school :D

haha i was reminded to post more often in this blog one fine night over dinner with mel, sq and a friend. so here i am!

hm. nothing much to report.

the melbourne gluttons met up over the weekend, went for dinner at ajisen and then dessert at cafe notturno along lygon street. where we died by chocolate. (lol sorry non-melburnian-gluttons, this is an internal joke)

lectures at uni have been ok so far, rather interesting content but it's still very tiring to have to sit through 3 or 4 lectures in a row. i always tend to nod off after a while if i don't get enough sleep the night before. even coffee doesn't really work very well anymore. despite me being re-sensitised to caffeine over the break, the lectures are way too overpowering.

anyways, this semester has, as usual, started off quite well. a lot of people are still willing to go out or to slack around, so there's always something to do around when there's free time. it'll probably drop off a few weeks into semester when everyone gets down to business again. sigh.

anyways, just a suggestion that the gluttons should have a reunion in beijing one day. ahmeng and hongyi can show us around, so we'd probably be more mobile than in hongkong or taiwan. PLUS the shopping there is SUUUUPER fantastic, very cheap stuff if you have thick skin and can bargain. and the city is a very vibrant place with lots to see. SO i vote for beijing! that is, IF we ever manage to get an overseas trip down into our calendars in the first place. i shall hereby state that i am free and willing to go to beijing again in july 2010 when i have my 1-month break. for the american-gluttons, you guys are very problematic, please make time during your long summer break for us!

anyways, because of a certain episode, i have decided to repost this, which happens to be our ranks for the esteemed GLC (ie. GLutton's Club) as there seemed to be confusion over what exactly they were. so here it is:

Grand High Master, Fang Hongyi
Skilled Master, Chia Mei Fen
Elder Eater, Juline
Apprentice Elder Eater, Tsai Si Qian
Minor Apprentice, Melissa Ho
Unranked, Li Meng Yuan

but then again, it's not completely updated because there are several jobscopes that weren't detailed in this version. hence, as elder eater acting in the place of the non-technologically-skilled grand high master and skilled master (ie. fang hongyi and chia meifen), i shall add the following posts:

Fang Hongyi, Grand High Master and Belly Bouncer

she is (or was) the biggest and fastest eater of all time, devouring heaps and piles of anything edible, rising to fame quickly and attaining great heights. she is also known as the belly bouncer, for eating truckloads of food created a stomach that was legendary in circumference and furthermore, she has the right to reject any applications to the GLC. hence the tag "bouncer" (if you still don't understand, "bouncer" as in the monstrous hulk standing outside clubs looking intimidating and turning losers away)

Chia Meifen, Skilled Master and Skeptical Eater

she is (or was) a rival to the champion eater of modern times, falling slightly behind in timings but nevertheless, remaining the holder of many titles and records in the realm of gluttony. her most feared, and respected, attribute was her critical judgement of all foods to be consumed, attacking even the most innocent of cabbages for looking too droopy. thus, she is the skeptical eater, ever with disbelief of die-die must-trys and food trends that surface so often.

Juline Chua, Elder Eater and future Grand High Master

she is (or was) a feared eater of her times, a fast and diligent worker. her natural affinity with anything edible began at a very young age, some people whisper that soon after birth, she was already chewing on the corners of her blanket hungrily. she looks set to break world records over time, with the accumulation of experience and advice from other better eaters.

Tsai Si Qian, Apprentice Elder Eater and Treasurer

she is (or was) a selective eater, at times rejecting dishes with disdain and at others, consuming ungodly amounts of a particular type of food. she was notorious for being picky, but once given her current crave, would devour them at a pace to rival that of the grand high masters of old. also, as a side project, she studies business and is perfect for the role of treasurer. her experience in handling money and intimate knowledge of the latest money-moving technology (ie. internet banking) recommends her highly for the tremendous task.

Melissa Ho, Minor Apprentice and Secretary

she is (or was) a mediocre eater, moderate at best. she remains stagnant at her skill level, going through her food slowly and appreciatively, and only occasionally displays gluttonous enthusiasm. however, certain traits true to our club's name surface at times. for example, she becomes highly grumpy when hungry, as many famed eaters were. she also dabbles in other arenas of gluttony, such as baking, which is a highly-favoured trait to the GLC. due to her high level of committment and meticulous nature, she was appointed secretary as well.

Li Mengyuan, Unranked (still)

she is (or was) the unfortunate soul who harboured ambitions to attain a position in this world-renowned league of extraordinary eaters. due to her slow pace and small capacity however, she lags behind in every GLC meeting, and does not seem to understand our club's mottos and aims. on the other hand, she is useful as the handy sweeper of floors and cleaner of windows in our clubhouse, and very infrequently shows sparks of possible talent with her apt recommendations for eateries and willingness to cooperate with the food escapades of the GLC. who knows, her application to the GLC might one day be approved.

and that was a summary of the honoured members of the GLC. and thus comes the end of my post. till then!

woot! flurry of activity! shame on all those who have YET to participate in this exciting world of blogging. *cough*meifen*cough*hongyi

what updates shall i talk about here..hmm seems like nothing much has happened in my extremely mundane life. hahaha. oh american pie is a sick sick sick show please do not watch it guys..i watched like 3 episodes and i think i'm mentally scarred for life. HAHA.

siqian when r u coming melbourne again! oh juline and i are going back on the 28th june (dunno if we've mentioned it yet) so meifen and mengyuan take note of the date :)

sigh..ok i gotta go back to mugging. i ahve a jap listening test next mon and i need to know how to read time (in jap la...), the days of the weeks and all subjects. ALL SUBJECTS!!! who on earth cares what anthropology is in japanese anyway?!?! or linguistics, or sociology, or computer science...around 30 subjects to learn..:(

haha lols. ok byes! take care peeps :)

WOW amazing, so many new posts! (ok, not really NEW)

eh siqian, i didn't know your room was so small! from your previous descriptions, i had the impression that it was ultra super duper gigantic but it looks about somewhere in btw mine and mel's room. ah well, melboune colleges all damn cheapo, charge so much for such lousy facilities. mel's friend studying in ANU is paying so much less than us for college la, right mel? :( but your hall looks nice, looks more modern than IH buildings.

small update: i'm playing ping pong for IH! i know siqian will prob laugh when she reads that. haha, but we won our first match and the next match is tomorrow.

erm also, i'm currently struggling to get back into study mode, everytime i wanna sit down and study properly, i a)fall asleep b)facebook c)stone. i'm so dead la, i'm rather far behind in lectures but i haven't managed to find the determination to study harder and catch up. damn my indolent self!

anyways, ah meng! are your exams over and what are you doing during the summer break? same for hongyi! and meifen! (except that there's no SUMMER break, since it's summer all the time in sg)

Sunday, April 26, 2009

helloooooooooooooooo since no ones seems to be posting here, i shall be nice and do so! :D

anyway, just to spread the good news, juline and i each got a mini scholarship from international house! :) juline got the wickhardt scholarship while i got the mavis jackson one.

my next two weeks are going to be crazyyyyyyyyyyy. :( i have para para practice EVERY SINGLE NIGHT for at least 1.5hours, i have my self-help which takes up another 2 hours once a week, i have 2 pracs this week and 3 pracs next week AND i still need to go shopping for my para para clothing plus winter clothes!! urghh. stupid stupid stupid. oh and my friend's girlfriend is coming and he's organising all the great ocean road/paint-balling activities so that means my weekends are probably gone as well. :(

haha okay enough complaining. how are you guys doing! :) just drop a one-liner (or preferably more) to update us on your probably-very-hippening life in singapore/america/australia. dont be lazy! hahaha. ok i need to go study my physics now...assignment due tomorrow. :P bye bye peeps! love you all! :D

Saturday, March 14, 2009

ohhhh siqian!!! why does your room look so sparse-.- haha, and you try to make your bed EVERYDAY?! that is simply incredible! I think I make my bed around once every month:/

hope all the aussie gluttons are having a great time in melbourne. It was great to see all your beautiful faces on skype the other time:)

my spring break has officially began! I'm soooooooooo estatic!!!
WOOOOOOHOOOOOO:)

hello! i'm here to revive this dying blog. :]

so anyway i'm currently in arrow on swanston, obtaining this precious internet time from an internet pre-paid card by the hotel. haha. i have no idea how else to get internet.. =/ apparently starbucks or similar cafes with wireless is not the norm here...

hmm let's see what could be of interest to you guys..haha...oh i met siqian at crown casino the night before! :] lol. i wanted to sit down at a cafe or sth to talk but she didnt want to leave the casino once she entered it since she has no proof of identity and could be stopped if she exits and re-enters. haha no idea if u guys understood the last sentence. yea anyway, i realised monash really isnt that far off. :D

yawns. ok i'm off to bed. haha my sleeping time is really weird lately. i'll sleep at 12am, wake up at 6.30am and take an afternoon nap from 4-6pm. cant be jet lag right? i think my internal body clock is just weird. hahaha.

JULINE CHUA GET HERE QUICK. i'm bored of melbourne already. hahahaha. i want to move into my hostel! :( ok hope u guys are having fun in ur respective unis! :D

Thursday, November 20, 2008

HAHA overslept for an exam paper?! so unlike an rj student, you need to work harder ah meng.
man, your place sounds so nice, deers at the bus stops, squirrels and rabbits on the way to uni.... sigh, all i have are possums and crows. hey take photos next time. of the various animals you bump into in a typical day. by the way, how are you doing over there?

and if hongyi is reading this, how are you doing over at your side too?

and since i'm asking, siqian and mf, how's uni? haha you guys prob don't even read this blog anymore.

and melho's just slacking at home, or slacking at work.

anyways, i'm back in singapore (yes, again). this time till late or mid feb! but i'll be going to the US and canada for hols, whoopee! then going to kota kinabalu in january too, before chinese new year.

alrightio, need sleep desperately, i shall be back again. good bye

Thursday, October 02, 2008

HI MY BELOVED GLUTTONS:) I'm here to revive our near-dead blog too:) sounds like you guys are having a great time in Singapore, going to F1/zoos etc. Poor me is studying hard. I just had 2 prelims, one on monday and one on tues. and the best part is I OVERSLEPT for my very first prelim in college. and I missed a quarter of my macroecons paper, thus unable to finish my paper in time. sighs. I almost got a heart attack when I work up at like 245 and my exam is at 255, not to mention its at the other end of the campus-.-

Im going to boston this weekend! yeah! finally going to be out of tiny little Ithaca wheee. anyway, fall is here and the place is absolutely gorgeous! when you walk over the bridge, you can see the shades of yellow, orange, red. OH. and I saw 2 deers at the bus stop the other day. super cute:) but the weather is getting kind of cold. in fact, its really freezing at night and early in the morning. oh well, i guess the only positive side is that I get to wear all my winter clothes *beams*

hope you guys are doing great! love you miss you:)

Wednesday, September 24, 2008

ooh heyy. i'm here to revive the blog!

if only i knew what to type.

hmm. me, mel and sq went to the singapore zoo today! meifen wanted to study so she couldn't come, and ah meng and hongyi were obviously unable to join us due to physical limitations.

geez i'm honestly too lazy to think of what to type, so i'll just leave it at that for now.

Sunday, June 01, 2008

GUYS.

this blog is so dead.
LOL.

c'mon peeps,
blog more!
even once a week is sufficient if all of us blog.
[:

Tuesday, January 08, 2008

haha i didn't realise there were new posts here!! cool. anyhoo, i dun wanna get facebook! it's tiring and not extremely useful or beneficial to my existence here on earth, unless the number of hits i get testifies that i'm still alive. err, sorry, that just came out on its own accord.

anyways, for the benefit of hongyi and mengyuan, the 4 remaining gluttons in singapore are meeting up on friday night for a little soiree. lol. we're having dinner la, maybe can watch late-night movie! i dunno, see how.

and ah meng, my words to you in those cards were perfectly logical and reasonable! you NEED to ascend the maturity ladder ASAP. i'm not on the ladder bcos i've already been promoted to the ENLIGHTENMENT ladder, which is one level above the maturity one. lol.

sooo, mel and mf started work already. sq's also getting a job right? not sure.

and to hongyi: it's funny that blogspot is banned in china and you can still access it.. lol. are you sure?

aaaaanyways, it's getting boring here. i can't get a job, cos i'm leaving soon and noone wants to hire someone who'll work less than 1 month! but i'm looking forward to chinese new year! can have some fun. with my family. before i have to leave them for (sobs) erm..4 months? i have resorted to sneaking out of the house to orchard area, shopping like mad bcos there are sales everywhere right now! zara, guess, mango, g2000, fox, etc etc, i'm stocking up on things i'll need in australia, esp clothes and bags. woohoo, i love seeing the gigantic "SALE" word plastered on shopfronts!! hooray to sales! i got some stuff for half-price or less! i am satisfied. although i'm still spending quite a lot.

aaaaanyways, i want to go to bugis street! to get cheap stuff. anybody up for a bugis street outing?

to hongyi: yeah i won't ever see you again!! but i might be going to the US for a holiday in early dec, although i probably will still be miles from where you are, lol. the itinerary isn't planned yet though. and your job sounded really..interesting.

alrighty then, hope the gluttons' outing scheduled for friday goes through. to ah meng and hongyi, have fun in china. to mf, mel, sq, keep posting more! (in mf's case, post more!)

Saturday, December 22, 2007

ah i'm pathetic. i'm viewing our blog through the manage posts page. but at least i can see what you guys wrote :) hehe

i just realised something!!! the americans are so happening. zomg you noe on facebook rite, a normal person have about 200-300 friends, me i don't even have 200 friends, they have 1000 friends. and normal ppl have about 200-300 posts on their walls, they have 2000, and i don't even have 50. omg how am i going to survive there??? pls gluttons help me by spamming my wall. thank you very much :) and! the things they talk about?? it's like latin. or greek. or alien. :(

you guys are going on a cruise??? boohoo i'll be dreaming of it here in the freezing cold. ok i'm getting a bit more comfortable with the cold. and i've started working! at the tianjin tv station. sounds so uber glam huh! eh but for my first and only day at work so far, all i've done is sit and stone in the control room and hear the producer talk in this extremely high pitched voice. zomg it's unbearable. and the show they are editing is extremely stupid. some show for ang moh businessmen in tianjin. omg its the most boring thing i've watched and re-watched my entire life. the whole day! watching some 27 min video. -.-

do remember to post often and update me! thank you very much :)

Monday, December 17, 2007

hahhaha. mengyuan..your post really made me lol.

and those are not "erm" things okay..
those are "ohh yeaaa that's righttt" things.
=D

hongyi!
woah. first time i see your post.
amazing.
hahaha.
hope you received my facebook email!
once again, plspls dont email my facebook acct okay.
gmail and hotmail is much safer.
and hurry up get a skype acct!
it's FREE and GOOD.
you have no heater at home and it's winter?!?!
omg i think the uni is ill-treating you.
lol.
okay, cant wait to see you back!

to rest of gluttons:
ehh. is the cruise trip still on?
yesyesyes!!
[:

this is very retarded. i can blog but i can't see our blog cause blogger is banned in china. oh man! i can't even see what you guys wrote i can only post it's like talking to myself. *fumes*

Saturday, December 15, 2007

Ah Meng, I don't remember writing the second line! And why am I shortie tsai? I thought I was fishball tsai..

Sorry for missing the past 2 Gluttons outings! Got any pictures for me to see?

I was reading those notes and letters that people wrote to me and I realised that some people write the most ERM things. and two of my gluttons are among these ERM people.

From jooooline
1) Please hurry up and join me up here on the maturity ladder. (eh hello?! who is the one who is not even ON the ladder-.-)

2)I hope you stay weird 4eva.

3)Lots of luck to the years of your life (which hopefully are many)

From shortie tsai
1)since this is the friendship week, i shall be nice to you. but after that, i will still disturb you cause i cannot help it.

2)Happy V day! do not be heartbroken. (that is if you have a heart)

Wednesday, December 12, 2007

My fellow gluttons! hope you've been eating well while i'm gone! finally i can blog after my last post which i think was about a year ago..lol. and you guys noe what? i think blogger is banned in china or sth, because i cant gain access to a single blog, not even ours. i can only come here through meng's link. so weird ah. and so mafan also. but! i promise i'll come here regularly because i really really miss you guys loads!

it's freezing here. i dunno why this year suddenly it feels so cold. normally i can handle the cold quite well. i guess it's the wind, and the fact that there's no heater at home. so currently i am suffering from severe blocked nose and loads of mucus. and the worst thing? my mucus is black! you can imagine how dirty and polluted it is here. ah my poor lungs.

as always i must fill you in on the latest FOOD developments. i recently ate a seafood feast, and there's something called pipixia which looks a bit like crayfish except the head is smaller and the shell is soft. er not soft as in squishy but not as hard. oh and its so so tasty! omg you guys have to come visit me one day so i can treat you guys to pipixia!

tentatively my schedule for 2008 is out! i'll go back to singapore early march, will probably stay till may. then im coming back to china to buy all the stuff needed and then go us in late july. so from then till aug 22 when the hostel's open, i can go visit my and mel if you guys are going to the us! but i won't get to see juls again! oh man i'll really miss you glutton!

oh and mf, juls and sq, hurry go get facebook leh. you all so not happening one. lol. facebook is really interactive! lol. ok i'll come back soon meanwhile do update me on all your latest happenings!

Thursday, December 06, 2007

hehe i really like this pic!

yeah. we must definitely keep each other updated about stuff through mail, phone, email etc. and rest assured that i will look up you guys whenever i come back to singapore from next year onwards!

the gluttons have been possibly my greatest friends in rgs and rjc, and it would be really sad if we drifted apart, like ahmeng said. i really really really hope we will still be a part of each other's lives in future. when we're studying in universities, i wanna hear about your studies, new friends, lives. when we've graduated and are employed, i wanna know all about your job, your life. when we're all married with kids, i wanna get to know your families, meet your kids, spend time together shopping, eating, relaxing. when we're old and wrinkly, i wanna have fun with you other ancient dudes, we can be Cool Funky grandparents/retirees together! even when things change, situations change, hope we still can laugh with each other, have tons of fun, share each other's stories and enjoy each other's company. but of course, it'll be hard to stay so close when time never ceases its merciless ravaging! which is why we must put in the effort! hope we don't get lazy and forget the times we've spent together so easily. that'd be meaningless! anyways, you guys are really absolutely completely wholly FANTASTIC friends in your own ways! i honestly will miss you all when i have to leave! and of course, i will miss hy who has already left!

P.S.: i disagree with the prom thing though. you MUST take photos with everyone you know during prom! haha

Hello guys! now that hongyi is gone, it truly sank in that we're going to separate and not see each other for a long time:( anyway, thanks for all the fond, funny, wacky and down right stupid moments we've had. I am grateful for having each of you in my life. Let us not be those friends who just drift off after a while and promise me that you will all make a conscious effort to keep in touch with everyone. To my dear juls, sq, mel, hy and mf: I LOVE YOU, GUYS:D

anyway, i saw something on a friend's blog and i thought it is quite interesting. It's about prom:
I forgot to take pictures with quite a number of people. But I realised that remembering people is not only about faces on glossy papers. It is not about remembering them at a time when they look least like themselves. I always thought that was the perfect irony of prom.
